WHO WE SERVE 

Our jurisdiction includes rural Durham County, portions of the Research Triangle Park, and urban areas within the City of Durham. In fact, more than 80 percent of the services the Sheriff's Office provides benefit citizens living in the City of Durham.

From our Patrol Unit to our Criminal Investigations Division, the Sheriff's Office operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the year. Nearly 500 sworn and civilian employees work as a team to operate the Durham County Detention Facility, provide courthouse security, monitor registered sex offenders, conduct search and recovery missions, respond to hazardous incidents, and serve criminal warrants and numerous civil documents mandated by State law.
