Community Academy
Participants in the Durham County Sheriff's Office Community Academy get a behind-the-scenes look at the daily operations of the Durham County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office hosts the academy twice a year. During the duration of the month long experience they meet twice a week and learn from Durham County Sheriff's Office staff about the various divisions and services of the agency. Classes include a vehicle stop demonstration, information on crime scene analysis, a shooting simulation, a tour of detention services, information on animal services, special teams demonstrations and more.
To participate you must be at least 19 years old and a Durham county resident.
The application process includes a criminal background check. All Applicants must not have a misdemeanor or felony arrest or conviction 12 months prior to the class.
